You're right, this code works only on the following context :

    public static void main(String[] args) {
        MyFoo foo = new MyFoo();
        System.out.println(foo.toString());
    }

    public static class Foo<T extends Object>{
        
        public String toString() {
            Class clazz = (Class) ((java.lang.reflect.ParameterizedType) getClass().getGenericSuperclass()).getActualTypeArguments()[0];
            return clazz.getSimpleName();
        }
    }
    
    public static class MyFoo extends Foo<Integer>{
        
    }
}
